Salvation Testimony
We are the Stoutt Family, missionaries to Scotland. My wife and I both lost our spouses, each of 13 years in 2021 and 2023. However, God has taken what many would call broken and has given grace and beauty as only he can. I took my first trip to Scotland in January of 2023 to help a missionary just recently getting to the field. It was there that God first burdened my heart with the need of more missionaries to go to the forgotten people of Scotland. After returning and sharing my burden with my pastor to get more missionaries to this beautiful country, God continued nudging me. I took a second trip in July of 2023 to help in a tent meeting, in which the Lord allowed me by providence to preach the entire meeting. After returning back to the states, God continued dealing with me about missions in Scotland, but as a widower, I kept telling him I couldn’t go without a helper. Little did I know, he was already working that in his timing. Sadie and I began talking about our shared experiences in grief, especially with our children, but soon realized there was more of a connection than just grief. So, we began a courtship. Prior to our conversations, Sadie had also been praying about and talking to her pastor about taking a mission trip to Scotland in May of 2024. A trip I had already been praying about a􏰀ending as well. Through our courtship, I also discovered that Sadie had been a pen pal with a missionary’s wife in Scotland as well as a young lady in their Bible Club as a teenage girl. Throughout her youth and young adult life, God had been preparing her for missions in Scotland! In February, God dealt strongly with me after teaching the teen boy’s Sunday School class out of Hebrews 11 on the faith that Abraham exercised to leave his family to go to a land that God would show him. How could I teach these boys about the faith they should exercise, but I was not willing to? I was still stubborn because Sadie and I weren’t yet engaged. Then, on February 21, 2024, God sent a message through his man out of Acts 10 where Peter told God “Not so, Lord”. The man of God preached on the dangers of telling God no. That night, I surrendered the call to missions in Scotland. Sadie and I were then engaged on April 27th, and after our survey trip in May, God revealed to us as well as our Pastor that time is very short, and the need is very great. So, we chose to marry while we were in Scotland so that we may begin deputation right away as a family. We are excited about what God has done in our family, and what he desires to accomplish through our family as we reach the Scottish people for his glory!
